Audiobook Production Agreement

Version 1.3 · Effective October 13, 2026

This agreement covers producing an audiobook of your book in your own voice: what it costs, when you pay, what you own, and what we may do with your recording and your manuscript.

Audiobook Production Agreement

Version: 1.3 Effective date: October 13, 2026

This agreement is between SquireWorks LLC ("SquireWorks", "we") and the author who asks us to produce an audiobook ("you"). It covers one book. If you later want a second book produced, the same terms apply to that book unless we agree otherwise in writing.

1. What we do

You send us your manuscript and a short recording of your own voice. We use that recording to build a private narration voice that sounds like you, produce a sample from your book for you to hear, and then produce the complete audiobook in that voice.

The audiobook is narrated in a single voice throughout. If your book has dialogue and you would like it performed, we can have that voice shift for different characters -- lower and slower for one, lighter for another -- the way a single narrator does it. Tell us if you want that; we will not do it unless you ask. What we do not do is cast separate narrators for different characters.

2. What you send us

3. Price and payment

The price is $199 for the complete audiobook.

You do not pay when you send us your material, and you do not pay while we are working. Payment is due once the finished audiobook is ready and you have told us you are happy with it. We deliver the final audio files after payment.

If you decide not to go ahead at any point before you approve the finished audiobook, you owe us nothing.

4. Review and corrections

There are two points where you hear the work before it is finished:

  1. The sample. We produce a short excerpt from your book. If the voice is not right, tell us and we will work on it, or you can stop at that point and owe us nothing.
  2. The finished audiobook. We check it ourselves first, then send it to you. Tell us about any word, pause, pronunciation, or passage that sounds wrong and we will correct it and send it back.

The 60-day correction period

For 60 days after we deliver the finished audiobook, we will correct production errors at no charge. Production errors are our mistakes in the audio: a mispronounced word or name, missing or duplicated text, an audio glitch, a wrong word, a sentence read with the wrong break in it.

Changes that are not production errors are new work, even when you ask for them inside the 60 days. That means edits to the manuscript, rewritten or added passages, or a change in how you want something performed. We will tell you when something falls on that side of the line, and agree a price with you before doing any of it.

Tell us the chapter and roughly where, and we will do the rest.

5. What you own

You keep everything:

6. What we may do with your voice and your book

Only what is needed to produce your audiobook.

7. What you confirm

That you hold the rights to the book you send us and to the voice in the recording you send us, and that producing an audiobook of it does not breach anyone else's rights or an agreement you have with a publisher.

8. Distribution is yours to arrange

We produce the audio files and hand them to you. We are not your distributor and we do not publish on your behalf.

Some stores and platforms have their own rules about audiobooks narrated with synthetic or AI-assisted voices, and those rules change. Checking the rules of the platforms you intend to use, and complying with them, including any disclosure they require, is up to you. We cannot promise that any particular store will accept an audiobook produced this way.

9. Ending it

Either of us may stop before the audiobook is finished. You owe nothing for work done up to that point, and we will delete your material on request as described above.

10. Limits

We produce your audiobook with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that we make no guarantees about sales, reviews, or platform acceptance. If something goes wrong and we are responsible, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us for that book. Neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or consequential losses.

11. General

This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Colorado. It is the whole agreement between us for the book it covers, and any change to it needs to be in writing.
